LoJack Aids NYPD in Quick Recovery of Stolen Honda Civic in Queens

On July 16, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Honda Civic contacted the New York Police Department’s 113th Precinct to report that his vehicle was stolen from in front of his house, in South Ozone Park, Queens, New York. NYPD officers verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.

A short while later, officers with the Queens South Auto Larceny Unit picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential street in the Jamaica section of Queens, confines of the 103rd Precinct. There, they located the vehicle parked on the street. They staked out the vehicle for a short while; however, when no one returned for the vehicle, they took it into custody.

The vehicle was recovered in excellent condition, without any damage. The owner was notified, and he was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially without any damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2009 Honda Civic in November of 2011 at Hillside Honda in Jamaica, New York.
