Fairfield CA Police Quickly Recover Stolen Mazda MX5 Abandoned in Mall Parking Lot

On July 1, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Mazda MX5 contacted the Fairfield Police Department to report that the vehicle had been stolen from in front of her residence. Fairfield Police verified the theft and had the Mazda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
Just over 2 hours later, officers with the Fairfield Police began to receive the silent signal from the stolen Mazda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol cars. Following the audible and signal strength cues on the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a mall parking lot near I-80 and Travis Boulevard. There, the officers located the vehicle, parked and abandoned.
The vehicle was recovered, and the victim contacted to take possession of her vehicle.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Mazda MX5 in June of 2003 at Menlo Mazda.
