On July 8, 2012, the owner of an Acura CL-CP contacted the San Diego Police Department’s Western Station to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in San Diego. The San Diego Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Acura.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego Police Department ground units picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Acura on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 100th block of Euclid Avenue. There, they conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for possession of stolen property.

The owner was happy when the San Diego Police contacted him to report that they had recovered the undamaged vehicle. The Acura was valued at approximately $4,000.00.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Acura CL-CP on January of 2003 at Toyota of Cerritos.
