Stolen Nissan Murano Quickly Recovered, Undamaged, by Kern County Deputies in California

On June 8, 2012 the owner of a 2004 Nissan Murano contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of his residence. The Kern County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Murano.
Less than two hours later, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Nissan on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the deputy tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue in Bakersfield. The vehicle was found abandoned, parked on the side of the road in a residential area. The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2004 Nissan Murano in September of 2004 at Empire Nissan in Ontario, California. This vehicle is valued at $14,500.
