LoJack System Helps Phoenix Police Department Recover Stolen Ford Expedition Two in Custody

The
owners of a 2008 Ford Expedition contacted the Phoenix Police Department to
report their vehicle stolen sometime during the past day from their
residence. The owners hid an extra set
of keys in the vehicle. The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and
federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
Thirty-five minutes later, the air unit and patrol officers from the Phoenix
Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with
the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol
vehicles and aircraft. Following the
directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air unit and the officers
tracked the vehicle to the area of 43rd Avenue and Encanto Boulevard.
The
Phoenix Police Department officers located the vehicle occupied and detained
two suspects without incident. The
vehicle was recovered and processed for evidence. Both suspects were arrested and booked. The vehicle was later returned to the owners
in good condition.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Expedition in January 2009, at Sanderson
Ford, Glendale, Arizona.
