LoJack System Helps Los Angeles Police Department Recover Stolen 2007 Porsche 911 One in Custody

A local Porsche dealer reported several vehicles stolen from their service area by unknown suspects. Apparently, keys had been left inside the vehicles. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System, concealed in the Porsche.

A short while later deputies from Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Porsche with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle and located it in a stall along with two suspects. Several other subjects nearby were also questioned.

Deputies arrested the driver and developed information the individuals they encountered were involved in the recent theft of Porsches. Patrolling the area of the recent recovery while answering a suspicious vehicle call deputies also recovered a 2017 Porsche Cayman taken from the same dealership.

The Taskforce for Regional Auto Theft Prevention (TRAP) is taking over the investigation, which remains, open and active. 

The LoJack system was installed in September 2006 at a local dealership in Los Angeles, CA.
