On June 14, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Honda Civic LX contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of his residence in San Diego. San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda Civic LX on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood at the 4300 block of Wilson St. in San Diego.

The owner was very happy when San Diego Police contacted him to retrieve the vehicle, which was recovered abandoned and undamaged.  The vehicle was valued at approximately $9,000.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic LX in January of 2006 at Honda of Hollywood in Hollywood.
