The owners of a 2020 Toyota Corolla reported to Forest Park Police their vehicle stolen off their car lot. Once Forest Park Police verified the theft, they entered the vehicle’s information into state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

Within minutes of the vehicle being entered as stolen Officers from South Fulton and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in their vehicles and Air Units. The vehicle was located a short time later driving around a Walmart shopping center. As the Officers waited for additional units to set up the vehicle parked in a parking spot. The driver exited the vehicle with a screwdriver and began to remove a license plate from another parked vehicle to place on the stolen vehicle. Officers moved in and were able to arrest the individual that had just stolen the vehicle less than an hour earlier. With the evidence on hand, the suspect confessed to the actual theft of the vehicle to Officers.

The LoJack in this vehicle had just been installed two days earlier and it was learned that this was the first 2020 Model year vehicle to be stolen in Georgia this year. Without the LoJack system in this vehicle the recovery couldn’t of been made so quickly and with the suspect in the process of committing another crime when apprehended. He may have well continued his crime spree in the stolen vehicle until caught. The vehicle was recovered without damage and returned to the dealership within two hours of the theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in May 2019 at Toyota South Atlanta, Atlanta, GA
