LoJack System Helps Phoenix Police Department Recover Stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee within Minutes of Activation

The owner of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen with the keys.  The owner was outside the vehicle when the suspect jumped in and sped off.  The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

Four minutes later officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 25th Avenue and Vista Avenue, approximately one and a half miles from the theft location. 

The Phoenix Police Department officers located the stolen Jeep in the parking lot of an apartment complex.  An investigative lead was contacted, interviewed, and released pending further investigation.  The Jeep was recovered in good condition and processed for evidence.  The Jeep was released to the owner at the scene.  

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Grand Cherokee in September 2007, at AutoNation Chevrolet Arrowhead, Peoria, Arizona.
