The
owner of a 2003 Lexus FX45 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report
that her boyfriend had stolen her vehicle from her during a domestic at her
residence on the 7900 block of S. Vernon in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood. Chicago
police arrived on scene verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime
computers which automatically activated the LoJack®
System concealed in the Infiniti.
A short while later a Chicago squad from the Engelwood district equipped with a
LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and
aircraft picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota. Following
the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Infiniti was located parked and
unoccupied on the 7200 block of S. Claremont in Chicago’s West Engelwood
neighborhood. The Infiniti was recovered undamaged and returned to owner.
Police investigation continues.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Infiniti FX45 in September 2006, at Luxury Motors O’Hare, Franklin Park, Illinois.
