Glendale Police Recover Stolen Lincoln Welder in Commercial Storage Locker, 1 Arrested

When workers arrived at their job site near 106th Avenue and Camelback Road on Monday morning, June 18, 2012, they discovered that the 2006 Lincoln welder was missing. The owners of the equipment contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report the crime. Phoenix Police verified the theft and had the welder’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the equipment.

A short time later, Glendale Police officers began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen welder with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in the police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack computers, the officers were led to a commercial storage locker in the 5900 block of West Coulter. Officers were able to pinpoint the exact locker that the LoJack signal was emanating from, and executed a search warrant on the space. The officers recovered the welder, and through good police work, were able to identify a suspect and make an arrest a short time later.

The LoJack Recovery System was installed in the Lincoln welder in July 2008.
