LoJack® System Helps New Mexico Auto Theft Task Force Recover a Stolen Jaguar XJR within Minutes of Activation

The owner of a 2003 Jaguar XJR contacted the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen.  The Bernalillo County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jaguar XJR.

Approximately thirty minutes after the activation, members with the New Mexico Auto Theft Task Force (New Mexico State Police and Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Units) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jaguar with their LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their undercover vehicles.  The ATTF picked up the LoJack signal in the area of Interstate 25 and Candelaria.

The ATTF members tracked the Jaguar to the area of 2nd Street and Candelaria.  The Jaguar was located in a commercial business area and determined it to be in a fenced property.  The property owner was contacted and the Jaguar was confirmed to be on the property.  The investigation is still on-going at this time.  The owner was notified of the recovery and will be reunited with the Jaguar.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jaguar XJR in June 2003 at Hornburg Jaguar in Santa Monica, California.
