Two for the Price of One LoJack System Helps the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, High Point, NC Recover Stolen Lexus GS 450H

Sometimes auto theft victims get the benefit of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network without having their vehicle equipped with the tracking system. This was the case in High Point, NC. when Agents from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau tracked and recovered a stolen 2008 Lexus. The owner of the Lexus contacted the High Point Police Department and reported the theft of their 2008 Lexus. The owner reported their vehicle stolen when a thief discovered the key to the Lexus after gaining entry. The High Point Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.
After the Lexus was entered into the national crime computer database, Agents with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles in High Point, NC. picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Agents tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex just a few miles from where it was stolen. The Agents canvased the apartment and no one wanted to claim any affiliation with the stolen vehicle. During the recovery of the Lexus, the Agents observed that the original license plate had been replaced with a license plate that belonged on a 2012 GMC Terrain which had also been reported stolen. The Agents located the stolen GMC Terrain in the apartment complex parking lot. The Agents had both recovered vehicles processed for forensic evidence. After being processed, both vehicles were towed for further investigation.
