LoJack System Helps CCATT ATTF Recover Stolen Honda Civic with Air Unit Assist Two in Custody

The owner of this Honda contacted the Madera Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen the previous night. The Madera Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
About one hour after the LoJack was activated, the flight crew of Air One, a Fresno Police Department helicopter, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight crew tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of Bullard and Cornelia Avenues in northwest Fresno. Investigators with CCATT, the Fresno Police Department Auto Theft Task Force converged upon the area and soon after, spotted the vehicle entering the parking lot of an apartment complex. The vehicle was occupied by male adult driver and female adult passenger. A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot and the two suspects were taken into custody without incident. The adult male was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The female was arrested for possession of narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia.
The Honda was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda in January 2007 at Klein Honda in Everett, Washington.
