LoJack® System in Stolen 2017 Ford F-150 assists Mason County Sheriff’s Department with Recovery

A resident in
Tacoma, Washington borrowed a 2017 Ford F150 from her uncle to move some
personal items. The next morning, she
discovered the Ford F150 was missing from the street in front of the
residence. The truck had been secured
the night before, but a key may have accidently been left inside the vehicle. The
theft was immediately reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and a
deputy responded for a Motor Vehicle Theft report. After verifying the theft, the Ford F-150 was
entered stolen into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the truck.
A Deputy in the Shelton area of Mason County, Washington received a LoJack hit
on his Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and
aircraft. Utilizing the audible and visual signals of the PTC, the deputy was
able to navigate to a motel in the City of Shelton where he observed the stolen
Ford F-150 in the parking lot. The license plates affixed to the truck
confirmed it was indeed the stolen vehicle equipped with LoJack®. Witnesses told the deputy the driver had been
in and out of room number seven. The
deputy contacted the occupant in room number seven and she stated her daughter
had borrowed the truck from a friend and was no longer there. The
truck had obvious signs of forced entry and the registered owner was not
immediately available to respond, therefore, the vehicle was impounded for
safekeeping at the owner’s request.
The next day, a very happy owner was able to retrieve his Ford F150 before it could be stripped or used in additional crimes.
The LoJack® System was installed on June 30th, 2017 by Lakewood Ford.
