LoJack System Helps Hayward Police Department Recover Stolen 2018 Toyota Camry

A new car dealership contacted the Livermore Police Department to report one of their rental vehicles had been stolen. The vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Camry had been rented and not returned. Numerous demands to return the vehicle had gone unanswered. The Livermore Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2018 Toyota Camry.

Shortly after the activation, an officer from the Hayward Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the stolen Toyota Camry to the 22900 block of Atherton Street, where the vehicle was found parked unoccupied at the curb.

The Stolen Toyota Camry was recovered by the Hayward Police Department and the vehicle was towed/stored for safe keeping to be returned to the dealership.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2018 Toyota Camry in October of 2017, at Livermore Toyota, in Livermore, CA.
