LoJack System Helps Michigan State Police Recover Stolen Honda Accord

The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Detroit Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen overnight from their residence. Detroit Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later troopers from the Michigan State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the vehicle to remote residential street in Detroit. The Honda was recovered parked and unoccupied.
Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip the vehicle or use it to commit additional crimes. The stolen Honda was impounded and later returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in January 1999 at Herb Chambers Honda, Burlington, MA.
