The owners of a Mercedes Benz contacted the Edgewater PD to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their place of employment a retail hardware store.  The suspect had apparently entered the employee break room and stolen keys for the vehicle which was parked outside.

A police officer verified the crimes and had the vehicle information promptly entered into the state and federal crime computers as stolen.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes…

Sixteen-minutes later officers from several law enforcement agencies (Adams County, Thornton, Colorado State Patrol) were picking up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, Thornton officers tracked and located the stolen vehicle at in the 10000 block of Grant Street, a big-box hardware and lumber yard.

The vehicle was unoccupied when found but through the investigation by officers at both the theft and recovery locations evidence has been collected and a female suspect has been identified.  An arrest warrant for the suspect is pending.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz ML320 in June 1999 at the request of the first owner of the car who lived in San Gabriel, California.
