Baltimore City Police Stop Stolen Toyota Camry, Arrest Driver, Recover Undamaged Vehicle

On May 29, 2012, the owner of a Toyota Camry discovered the vehicle stolen from Plymouth Road in Baltimore City and quickly reported the crime to the Baltimore City Police Department. After verifying the theft, Baltimore City officers had the Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, flight officers assigned to the Baltimore City Aviation Unit, “Foxtrot”, received the Toyota’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. Following the directional and audible signal from the LoJack Tracker, the flight officers quickly located the vehicle traveling in the area of 3400 block of Ednor Avenue. Ground units responded and stopped the vehicle, taking the driver into custody. The undamaged Toyota was then returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Camry at the new car buyer’s request in August, 1997.
