The victim, a rental company, was contacted by the renter and advised that a 2012 John Deere 310J backhoe was stolen from a job site overnight in the City of Manteca.

The Manteca Police Department verified the theft and entered the backhoe information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the John Deere.

A short while later officers from the Delta RATT Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Deere with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the backhoe to the 200 block of Veach Ave in Manteca. The officers observed the backhoe secreted in an ally and unattended. The officers conducted a surveillance of the backhoe in hopes the thieves would return and they could arrest them. After several hours and negative results the owner was contacted and responded to the location to take possession of their now recovered backhoe.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 John Deere 310J in January 2012 by Commercial / Direct Sales.
