The owners of a 2001 BMW 740 contacted the El Cajon Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in the city of El Cajon.

The El Cajon PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within 23 minutes, officers from the El Cajon PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the area of Park and Valentine Ave in El Cajon. A traffic stop was made; one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 240 in November 2003 at Nick Alexander Imports in Los Angeles, California.
