LoJack System Helps Auburn Police Department Recover Stolen 2017 Toyota Camry

The owner of a 2017 Toyota Camry contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The victim stated he made a friend at a local entertainment venue that evening and brought her home. The friend decided to leave sometime in the early morning hours and did wake the victim; she only took his keys and stole his Toyota.
The Sacramento PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Felony Traffic Stop – Suspect Arrested
Just minutes later officers with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and the Rocklin Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers were tracking the Toyota east bound I-80 approaching the city of Auburn. An Auburn Police Department officer assumed a position so he could monitor all east bound traffic on I-80. The Auburn PD officer then observed the stolen Camry exit the freeway and he conducted a felony traffic stop. The female driver was arrested without incident and booked into the Placer County jail for auto theft.
The Toyota was towed and stored to be released to the victim later.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in September 2016 at Roseville Toyota in California.
