LoJack System Helps Philadelphia Police Department Recover Stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee

The owner of a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee recently discovered that the vehicle had had been stolen from the parking spot in the eastern section of Philadelphia. The Jeep owner called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched a uniformed officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and then surveyed the area for the Jeep. When the officer was unable to locate the Jeep a stolen vehicle report was prepared and taken to the Philadelphia PD 24th District HQ. The stolen vehicle information was then entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

A short while later a uniformed member of the Philadelphia PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the signal to the area of Cleveland Street in north central Philadelphia. The investigator observed the parked Jeep and cautiously approached same to discover that the vehicle was unoccupied. The Jeep was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Grand Cherokee in October 2000 at Bournival Jeep in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
