LoJack System Helps Oakland Police Department Recover a Stolen Chrysler 300

The owner of a 2013 Chrysler 300 contacted the Oakland Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim advised the vehicle key fob was apparently taken when her residence was burglarized while she was out of state. A friend who was house-sitting discovered the key fob and the Chrysler missing from the residence and notified her.
The Oakland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler 300.
Six Suspects Detained, One Arrested
A short time later, officers from the Oakland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Chrysler to the area of the 1700 block of Chase Street, where they found the vehicle occupied by six persons. All six persons were detained without incident. The driver, a male juvenile, was taken into custody for possession of the stolen Chrysler and an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft. The remaining persons were interviewed and released as there was no evidence they had knowledge the Chrysler was stolen. The vehicle key fob was recovered from the Chrysler.
The Chrysler was recovered and towed/stored to be released to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chrysler 300 in May 2016 at Marysville Ford in California.
