LoJack System Helps Albuquerque Police Department Recover a Stolen GMC Yukon

The owner of a 2004 GMC Yukon called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.
The owner advised she parked the Tahoe in the parking lot of her work in the area of Louisiana and Indian School, in the Northeast Area Command. The owner looked out her office window, panicked when she did not see her Yukon and immediately called 911 to report the theft. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yukon.
Shortly after the activation, the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yukon with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover, patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Auto Theft Detectives tracked the Yukon to the area of Marquette and Vermont in the Southeast Area Command. The Yukon was parked along the curb and was unoccupied. Detectives set up surveillance on the Yukon and when no one returned to the Yukon it was recovered. A Crime Scene Specialist arrived on scene to process the Yukon for evidence.
Detectives notified the owners of the recovery and they responded to the scene. The Yukon had a damaged door lock and ignition but appeared to be in good condition. The owners asked the detective how he was able to recover the Yukon so quickly. The detective advised they located the Yukon with LoJack and the owners said they were lucky to have LoJack even though they didn’t remember having purchased LoJack when they bought the Yukon new in California.
The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Yukon in June 2004 at Puente Hills Buick GMC in City of Industry, California.
