The owners of a 2014 BMW 328i contacted the DeKalb County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during the night from their driveway. The DeKalb County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later officers from the DeKalb County PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to an apartment complex where it was found abandoned. The officer called a detective to the scene for further investigation. There was no arrest at the time of recovery.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 328 in June 2014 at United BMW in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
