LoJack System Helps Los Angeles Police Department Recover Stolen Mazda CX9

The owners of a 2015 Mazda CX9 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda CX9.

A short while later the LAPD Air-3 Flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Air-3 tracked the Mazda from Laurel Canyon and Erwin Street where they located the vehicle parked in a fast food parking lot.  Air-3 advised officers from North Hollywood of the location.  Officers responded to the location and observed a lone male adult occupant inside the Mazda.  The suspect was detained and later arrested for Grand Theft Auto. The undamaged Mazda was later released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Mazda CX9 in November 2016 at Galpin Lincoln Mercury Mazda in Valencia, California.
