The owner of a 2010 Ford Fusion contacted the Richmond Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Richmond PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Fusion.

Recovery and Arrest

A short time later, an officer from the Oakland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the stolen Ford to the area of 2100 Brush Street where he found the vehicle stopped in a vacant lot. The Ford was occupied by a male subject in the driver’s seat and the officer observed a female subject walk to the vehicle and get in the right front seat. As the Ford began to leave, a traffic stop was made and both persons were taken into custody without incident. The female was identified and released as she had no knowledge of the Ford being stolen. The driver was arrested and booked for vehicle theft. He was also found to be on felony probation for a prior possession of a stolen vehicle conviction.

The Ford was recovered and towed/stored to be released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Fusion in June 2016 at El Cerrito Honda in California.
