The owners of a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department, California, to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated they loaned the vehicle to “a so called friend” about a month ago. The “friend” never brought the Camaro back. The victim has exhausted all means to locate and get their Camaro back and have met with negative results.

The Citrus Heights PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Camaro.

Less than an hour later and over 600 miles away, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Nevada, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Camaro with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Camaro to a residential area in west Las Vegas. The officers observed the Camaro parked and abandoned at the curb.

The officers impounded the Camaro to be released back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Camaro in December 2016 at John L. Sullivan Chevrolet in Roseville, California.
