The owners of a 2008 Mercedes Benz parked his vehicle at a neighborhood convenience store and went inside. When he walked back out a male suspect ran up to him and pointed a handgun at him demanding his money. After the owner gave the suspect his money the suspect jumped in the Mercedes and drove away. The San Antonio Police Department were contacted and after the theft was verified the vehicle information was entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

Car and Foot Chase – Suspect Arrested

A short while later the San Antonio PD air patrol Eagle One picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. When Auto Theft officers joined in the track the suspect realized he was being followed and attempted to elude officers by driving in a residential area until he turned onto a dead end street. The suspect drove through a yard and into a culvert disabling the Mercedes. The suspect ran into the back yard of a residence where he broke through the patio doors by firing his weapon, breaking the glass and entered the residence. The suspect eventually surrendered to officers and was placed under arrest. The weapon was located inside the residence. Charges of aggravated robbery and deadly conduct were filed on the suspect. The disabled Mercedes was impounded by police.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Mercedes Benz in February 2008 at Mercedes Benz Beverly Hills in California.
