Stolen Lexus Recovered in San Diego with Stolen Goods Inside — One Suspect Arrested

When the owners of a Lexus ES350 discovered that their vehicle had been stolen on the night of May 3, 2012, they reported the theft to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. It was the Sheriff department’s routine entry of the vehicle’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than an hour later, San Diego County Sheriff’s ground units began to receive the Lexus’ silent LoJack homing signal on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol car. Following the computer’s directional signals, officers located the Lexus, abandoned in the 300 block of Weston Street. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of several items that had been taken in a residential burglary when the vehicle was stolen. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary and possession of controlled substance.
This Lexus ES350 had been installed with the LoJack Vehicle Recovery System three and a half years ago in San Diego, California. The current owners were happy that their vehicle had LoJack and had been recovered undamaged.
