LoJack System Helps California Highway Patrol Coastal Division Vehicle Theft Investigators Recover Stolen Cadillac Escalade

The owner of a 2000 Cadillac Escalade contacted the Oakley Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim advised the Cadillac had been stolen from in front of their residence in the 300 block of West Bolton Road.

The Oakley PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac Escalade.

A short while later officers from the California Highway Patrol Coastal Division Investigative Services Vehicle Theft Unit were travelling on I-580 in the Dublin Area when they picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Cadillac Escalade with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The investigators happened to be in the San Francisco Bay Area conducting a follow-up investigation on a previous stolen vehicle equipped with LoJack.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the stolen Cadillac to a large apartment complex at Lockhart Street and Finnian Way in the city of Dublin.  The stolen Cadillac was located unoccupied on the top level of a large multi-level parking garage.

The Cadillac was towed/stored to be released to the owner.  Upon contacting the owner of the Cadillac, he advised he had previously been the victim of an armed robbery in which his wallet and vehicle keys were stolen and he believed the same suspects may be responsible for the theft of his vehicle.  Evidence found in the Cadillac will be forwarded to the CHP Contra Costa Area Vehicle Theft Investigator for follow-up.  This was the second theft and recovery of this Cadillac via the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.  The victim told the CHP Investigator, “LoJack saves the day again!”

The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade in July 2008 at Tustin Cadillac in California.
