The owner of a 2016 Acura ILX called the Hillside Police Department to report that someone stole her vehicle from her driveway in Hillside. The Acura was unlocked and the keys were in the vehicle.

The Hillside PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura ILX.

A short while later, officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the Acura to Myrtle Ave in the city of Newark where the vehicle was recovered parked and undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 Acura ILX in December 2015 at Springfield Acura in New Jersey.
