The owners of a 2016 Toyota Corolla contacted the Houston Police Department to report that as they were leaving for work they heard a noise as if the security gate had been ran into. They then observed a white pickup coming down the street without its lights on.  A male subject jumped out of the pickup and pointed a hand gun at the owner. He then grabbed her purse, cell phone, and the keys to the Corolla and fled in her vehicle.  The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

A short while later deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to an apartment complex in the area of 13300 Northborough where it was parked and abandoned.  The Houston PD came to the location, set up surveillance and when no activity occurred the Toyota was taken downtown to the police compound for processing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in May 2016 at Fred Haas Toyota in Spring, Texas.
