The owners of a 1995 Honda Prelude contacted the Alhambra Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
A short while later an officer from the El Monte Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Honda to Lower Azusa Rd and Santa Anita Ave where the vehicle was spotted. Back up was requested as the suspects walked away from the Honda. Officers detained two male adults who were identified by a witness as coming from the Honda. Both suspects were arrested and were booked for the theft of the Honda. Detectives questioned both suspects and received “cop outs” from both as to the theft. The Honda was stored and later released undamaged to the victim.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Prelude in August 1998 at Goudy Honda in Alhambra, California.
