Mazda SUV Stolen and Recovered in San Jose, Less than 2 Hours After Theft

On May 1, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Mazda CX9 SUV discovered that his vehicle was stolen from where he had parked it in San Jose. The San Jose Police Department was called, a stolen vehicle report was filed, and the Mazda’s information was entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically and seamlessly activated the hidden LoJack transponder in the Mazda, prompting it to begin emitting a silent homing signal.
Less than two hours later, officers with the San Jose Police Department, equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers, began receiving the stolen SUV’s silent LoJack tracking signal. Following the computer’s cues, the officers tracked the Mazda to a housing project in San Jose where they located the vehicle and arrested the occupants. The undamaged SUV was impounded for safekeeping and the owner was notified of its recovery.
The total recovery time was less than 2 hours!
