Honda CBR Motorcycle Stolen in Phoenix, Recovered Minutes Later, Suspect Charged

On the afternoon of March 17, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle discovered that the bike had been stolen from his girlfriend’s apartment and immediately contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report the crime. Phoenix Police entered the motorcycle’s information into the Arizona and NCIC police computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than fifteen minutes later, officers with the Phoenix Police Department, Cactus Park Precinct, began to pick up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Honda CBR with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. The officers followed the signals to a residence in the 3100 block of West Sweetwater, where they observed the stolen motorcycle in the backyard. Officers made contact with the occupants of the residence and were able to identify a suspect. The officers recovered the stolen motorcycle, and returned it to the very happy owner. Officers also filed felony theft charges on the suspect identified at the scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the motorcycle at the owner’s request in September 2006.
