The owner of a 2007 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. During the night, while the owner was asleep, suspects broke into the owner’s home through the front door, took his car keys and stole his Toyota which was parked in the front driveway.
The Dallas PD verified the burglary and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Eight minutes later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to an apartment complex in the 7400 block of Chaucer Place. The officers found the stolen Toyota parked in the back parking lot. The Toyota was recovered in good condition. Officers are reviewing video from the apartment complex to see if a suspect can be identified.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in February 2007 at Lawrence Toyota in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
