The owner of a 2006 Toyota Highlander contacted the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino.
The San Bernardino County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
A short while later, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to 14th street and Oak Ave in the city of Calimesa. A traffic stop was made; the driver and passenger were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Highlander in July 2006 at Claremont Toyota in California.
