San Fernando Officers Recover Dodge Charger, Stolen by an Acquaintance of the Victim

On April 19, 2012, officers from the San Fernando Police Department began to pick up a silent LoJack homing signal on their patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. After querying the “Reply Code” appearing on their computer display with the police stolen vehicle database, the officers were informed that they were tracking a 2007 Dodge Charger reported stolen minutes earlier to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Division.
Following the directional cues on the tracking computer, the officers located the vehicle traveling in the area of Maclay and Truman. The officers conducted a felony traffic stop, and the female suspect was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, the officers received the information that the owner had picked up the suspect, and while becoming distracted, the suspect drove off in his vehicle. The suspect was turned over to LAPD-Mission division detectives, who are conducting this investigation.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Tahoe at the owner’s request in November 2006.
