LoJack® System Helps Michigan Task Force Recover Stolen Bobcat Skid Steer Loader

The owners of a 2010 Bobcat S250 skid steer contacted the Portage Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a jobsite some time over the past three months.
The Portage PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Bobcat.
Members of the Southwest Commercial Auto Recovery (SCAR) Task Force were enroute to Howard City when they picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Bobcat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the signal to a barn in a remote area of Sand Lake Township in Montcalm County.
While some of the detectives surveilled the property, others went to obtain a search warrant. A short time later the home owner returned and after talking to the detectives gave consent to enter the barn. The Bobcat was indeed found in the barn along with the implements taken during the theft. All of the property was impounded. The home owner cooperated with the detectives and gave statements. The statements were later confirmed as true and arrests are pending further investigation by SCAR.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Bobcat S250 skid steer loader in November 2009 via Commercial Sales.
