LoJack® System Helps Riverside Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Polaris Ranger

The owners of a 2012 Polaris Ranger contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a construction site overnight. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Polaris Ranger. Apparently there was a second construction site where a 2006 Ford F350 truck with a trailer that also was stolen. According to that deputy, it had been used to load the Polaris Ranger and drive off with it.
A short while later, the Riverside Police Department Air-1 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Polaris Ranger with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Polaris to the 4800 block of Dodge Street, Jurupa Valley, and directed a Riverside Sheriff’s Department deputy to the location. The Polaris was located on private property of a residence. Contact was made with the home owner who gave the deputy information of who dropped it off earlier this day. The same airship had also picked up the LoJack signal prior to the Polaris Ranger recovery from the stolen Ford F350 and that had been located by the same deputy four blocks from the recovery of the Polaris Ranger. Investigation continues.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Polaris Ranger in January 2012 via Commercial Customer in Anaheim, California.
