The owners of a 2008 BMW M3 contacted the Oxnard Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their dealer lot, along with two other vehicles.

The Oxnard PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Ventura Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and observed the BMW in the area of the 4600 Block of Telegraph Road. The officers conducted a felony traffic stop taking the driver into custody for auto theft related charges without incident. Investigation revealed that the keys were left with the BMW.

The BMW was released to the owners. The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW M3 in July 2008 at South Bay BMW in Torrance, California.
