The owners of a 2004 Toyota Solara contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the Cedonia area of Baltimore City, Maryland. The Baltimore City PD officers on the scene determined that the Toyota was stolen after the suspect gained access to the vehicle keys.

The Baltimore City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Solara.

A short while later officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the 2800 block Kentucky Avenue in the Hamilton area of Baltimore City, Maryland. At that location, officers observed the Toyota being operated by the theft suspect. Officers were able to safely stop the Toyota at the location and arrest the operator for auto theft. The undamaged Toyota was then recovered by police.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2004 Toyota Solara in May 2004 at Fitzgerald Lakeforest Toyota in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
