LoJack® System Helps San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Honda Accord

The owner of a 2004 Honda Accord contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Victorville deputies to report that her vehicle was stolen by an estranged boyfriend. In addition that this suspect had taken her one month old baby against a restraining order. Deputies immediately responded and verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
Within minutes deputies from the Victorville Station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Honda was tracked from Highway 395 and Mojave to a residence in the 11900 block of Wallflower Rd, city of Adelanto, and was located parked on a residential street. As the deputies arrived, they observed the suspect walking away from the Honda. He was immediately detained and identified. The deputies learned that this suspect had brought the one year old to a relative’s home where the child was rescued. They learned that the relatives refused to give the suspect the child and hid the child from this suspect forcing him out of the residence. The suspect was arrested and booked for the Child Abduction including the theft of the Honda. The child was returned safely to the mother. According to the deputies, LoJack greatly assisted in the quick recovery of the child. Case was presented to the District Attorney for felony filing.
