LoJack® System Helps Tempe Police Department Recover Stolen Ford Mustang

The owners of a 2002 Ford Mustang contacted the Tempe Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while it was left running. The owner had stopped at the bank and was out of the car at the walkup ATM. An unknown male jumped into the Ford and sped away.
The Tempe PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
Three minutes later, the helicopter and officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of 16th Street and Roosevelt in Phoenix.
The Ford was found occupied and Phoenix PD was able to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was arrested without incident. The Tempe PD officers responded to the scene and took case disposition. The Ford was recovered in good condition and returned to the owners. The suspect was booked for the theft of the Ford.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in July 2004 at Camelback Toyota in Phoenix, Arizona.
