The owners of a 2004 Lincoln LS contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by a known suspect. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

Minutes later deputies from the Adelanto Station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln LS with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Lincoln from Main Street Bridge to a commercial truck gas point approximately 4 miles near the 15 Freeway and Hwy395 and located the Lincoln parked to the rear parking area. As they drove up, they observed the Lincoln containing one male adult who was apparently talking to another individual in a nearby vehicle. The deputies deployed on the Lincoln taking the suspect into custody without further incident. This suspect was positively identified as the named suspect and was later booked for receiving stolen property. The undamaged Lincoln was later returned to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2004 Lincoln LS in September 2003 at South Bay Lincoln Mercury in Manhattan Beach, California.
