LoJack® System Helps Las Vegas Metro Police Department Recover Stolen Mazda MPV

The owner of a 2003 Mazda MPV contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report her vehicle was stolen. The owner stated she was delivering newspapers, parked and delivered the papers to an apartment leaving her Mazda running. During the delivery, an unknown male subject entered the Mazda and drove away from the scene. The owner yelled at the male subject but he did not return the Mazda. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.
In under an hour after the stolen vehicle entry, officers with the Las Vegas Metro PD and troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers tracked the Mazda and found it unoccupied. The Mazda was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda MPV in August 2006 at Shack Findlay Honda in Henderson, Nevada.
