The owner of a 2000 Honda Civic contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report his vehicle was stolen. The owner stated he parked and secured the Honda at a hotel parking garage. When the victim returned to his Honda he observed it being driven away. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within a short time after the stolen vehicle entry, officers from the Las Vegas Metro PD, North Las Vegas Police Department and Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers tracked the Honda and found it unoccupied. The Honda was towed from the scene for safekeeping to be reunited with the owner at a later date.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in May 2000 at Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, California.
