LoJack® System Helps King County Sheriff’s Office Recover Stolen Audi A6

This Audi was taken during the night from the owners’ driveway, located in the 5200 block of NE 3rd Place in Renton. This is the second theft of the same Audi in two months.
When the theft was discovered, it was reported to the Renton Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Audi.
A Washington State Patrol Cessna flying over Renton picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Audi on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Shortly thereafter, the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter received the signal. The location was relayed to multiple units on the ground. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Audi was located near 166th Avenue SE & SE May Valley Road. It was parked at a residence in that location.
A suspect with a criminal history for auto theft was contacted walking away from the scene. He was detained for questioning. The Audi did not appear to be damaged.
The owner was called to the scene to take possession of the Audi.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Audi A6 in August 2005 at Audi Mission Viejo in California.
